The Black Forest you can touch

2012

The most striking spatial element of the tourist information centre is a large stack of firewood like those often seen in the landscape of the Northern Black Forest.

But the wooden logs are not just stacked any which way. The 15.5-metre-long stack of wood consists of precisely cut logs neatly positioned in the shape of the topography of the Murg Valley. Visitors can walk alongside the profile of the Murg Valley, touch it and learn about the geographical context of the surrounding area. The stacked firewood is sourced from the local forest. Together with tourism director Patrick Schreib, the white fir trees were taken from the surrounding forests by the Züfle sawmill.
