Living close to nature and in harmony with nature

2021

The newly planned residential buildings are located on the east side of Motzen Lake in the Mittenwalde municipality, Motzen district, on a property with direct access to the lake. The 26 ecological rental apartments, constructed in timber, are designed with a consistent focus on circular sustainability and will be powered by renewable energies.

In total, two residential buildings will be constructed here according to the EH55 standard as per the GEG 2020 (German Building Energy Act).

The energy concept plans to install photovoltaic (PV) systems on the roofs. A brine-to-water heat pump covers 70% of the heating load as the base load, while an additional 30% of the heating load is provided by a rapidly responsive infrared heating system.

For the outdoor facilities, the Treibhaus office developed a landscape of native ecological perennial plantings. Gabion retaining walls and a Benjes hedge made of deadwood create new habitats for insects and small animals, and demarcate the used areas of the property from the wild shore, which is located in the Notte-Niederung nature conservation area.
